ABOUT ME
Soprano Sofia Vidali is from sunny San Diego California where she was raised by her Mexican mother and Italian father. Having two foreign parents, she grew up fluently speaking spanish as well as becoming conversational in italian. Her family has always been a huge inspiration to her and growing up with two graduate educated parents, the importance of education, as well as her love for languages, was instilled in her at an early age. Because of this and her hard work, she has earned merit and talent based scholarships from every private institution she has attended, spanning from highschool to her current masters degree program.
Ms. Vidali is a graduate of Chapman University with a BM in music, emphasis in Vocal Performance, and a minor in Italian Studies. While attending Chapman University, Sofia has been in two Chapman Opera Scenes productions and two fully staged Operas. During her last year at Chapman she performed the role of Eurydice in this past Opera Chapman Scenes as well as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte. She also attended the Patti and Allan Herbert Frost School of Music at Salzburg in the summer of 2019 where she met her current voice teacher Dr. Frank Ragsdale. Passionate about performing, she joined the non-profit Genesis Opera Theatre based in San Diego where she performed the role of the Fandango Singer from Goyescas in 2021.
In addition to her classical performances she has also been featured in the annual scholarship fundraising production Chapman Celebrates where she had the opportunity to perform on the Musco Center for the Arts performing arts center, which has featured many famous opera singers. Vidali has been hired for parties and fundraisers, singing in the styles of jazz, musical theater and opera most recently at AIMS in Graz. She has represented Chapman University at a fundraising event for student scholarships.
Following the events of the pandemic Sofia continued her education by attending the Frost School of Music where is pursuing her Masters degree in vocal performance to graduate in 2024. Ms. Vidali made her Frost Opera Theater debut as Zerlinain a scene from Don Giovanni.Recently, she attended both the TAOS Opera Institute in New Mexico and AIMS in Graz, Austria, while at TAOS she debuted the role of Young Pauline in Michael Ching’s new opera Notes on Viardot. She has also represented the Frost School of Music at the Coral Gables musc club performing an aria from Don Pasquale. This upcoming season, Ms. Vidali is looking forward to performing both in Frost Opera Theater’s "Night in the Next Whiskey Bar: A modern tapestry" as Hanna Glawari from The Merry Widow and in the spring she will be covering the role of Rose in Street Scene.
