“Somebody, Somewhere” from Frank Loesser’s The Most Happy Fella

This duet is from Michael Ching’s new opera Notes on Viardot. It is an opera very loosely inspired by an interview that Pauline Viardot gave in 1905. Pauline recalls a time when she and Turgenev were younger, reading Goethe's HERMANN AND DOROTHEA together on the grounds of her estate. Then, alone in her house, she opens a letter that he wrote to her, to be opened after his death. The memories flood back.
